Chronic and Palliative Care Program, including Marnie’s Garnen Room

The Fetal Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, affiliated with the physicians at UTHealth Medical School, is a national leader in fetal diagnosis, fetal intervention and comprehensive fetal care
for babies with a known or suspected congenital anomaly or genetic abnormality requiring treatment before or after birth. The internationally recognized UTHealth physician team is the most experienced in the region in advanced fetal imaging techniques and fetal intervention. The team includes world leaders in fetoscopic laser ablation for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), collectively performing more than 850 laser ablation cases to treat the serious condition, and was the first in the region to perform fetal spina bifida repair.
 
The Fetal Center provides all patients with a comprehensive and personalized plan of care where affiliated physicians from all specialties stand ready to provide treatment to both mother and baby, all under the same roof. With 118 level-III and IV beds, the hospital has one of the nation’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
 
Part of The Fetal Center’s continuum of care, the Chronic and Palliative Services Program (CAPS) that works closely with families who have been provided with a prenatal diagnosis of a life-threatening condition.  The CAPS team works with families to create memories with the time each family has with their child.  The Marnie’s Garden Room, located in Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, was established to support the CAPS team’s goal to provide families with a comfortable, private and serene place to spend final moments with their loved one.
